12/28/25 - Jesus Is the Light of the World

December 28, 2025

In this special end-of-year worship service led by the elders, the congregation reflects on Jesus as the light of the world and looks ahead to a new year with renewed purpose. The theme is anchored in the truth that God’s light rises in the darkness for those who trust Him and live uprightly, bringing guidance, hope, and the transformation that leads to repentance and conversion.

The service includes communion thoughts from John 8:12, where Jesus declares, “I am the light of the world.” The message connects Christ’s light to God’s guidance of Israel in the wilderness through the pillar of cloud and fire, reminding the church that Jesus goes before His people today and provides what we need for the journey: spiritual clarity, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life.

A second message draws from Isaiah 9:2 to describe the darkness of the human condition, sin, confusion, fear, and separation from God, and the great light that has shined in Christ. The lesson explains that light reveals truth, directs our steps, and defeats darkness. The church is encouraged not only to receive that light, but to carry it, shining with grace, integrity, and love so others are drawn to Christ.
