10/26/25 - Serve with Honor: Emptying Self to Serve
In this Sunday morning sermon, Glenn continues the “Serve with Honor” series with a message focused on emptying self in order to truly serve Christ and others. Drawing from Philippians 2:4–11, the lesson centers on the example of Jesus, who willingly laid aside His privileges, humbled Himself, and took on the role of a servant, even to the point of death on the cross.
The sermon explains the biblical idea of “emptying self,” not as losing value or identity, but as laying down personal priorities, pride, and comfort so that God’s purposes can take priority. Through personal stories and real-world examples, Glenn shows how self-centered thinking can quietly shape decisions, while Christ calls believers to put the needs of others first.
Using examples from Scripture, including Timothy and Epaphroditus, the message emphasizes that serving with honor requires effort, commitment, and a willingness to work faithfully, even when it is inconvenient or costly. Believers are reminded that living out salvation is not passive, but an active, daily obedience empowered by God working within us.
The sermon concludes with a call to be “poured out” in service, encouraging the church to commit themselves fully to God’s work, to unity, and to the mission of helping all people find peace and purpose in Jesus Christ.
