Days of Freedom Celebration

As we commemorate Juneteenth, we celebrate a defining moment in history - the physical emancipation of enslaved people in America.
This day is a solemn and joyful reminder of the resilience, hope, and enduring strength of a community that refused to be defined by chains. Yet for believers, Juneteenth also points to an even deeper truth — the spintual freedom that is found in Christ.
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
— Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
The Apostle Paul writes, in Galatians 5:1 (NIV):
This powerful Scripture reminds us that true freedom is not limited to our physical condition. It is a spiritual reality — one that breaks every chain, whether they be physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. Christ comes to liberate souls, heal wounds, and restore hope. Whatever form of bondage you or someone you love may be facing — whether emotional trauma, addiction, depression, or the power of sin and death — know this:
"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
— John 8:36 (NIV)
Let us honor Juneteenth by celebrating all those who have led our community with courage, compassion, and conviction. Let us also rejoice in the freedom we have in Christ — a freedom that no man can take away, and that calls us to lead, serve, and love others boldly.
May Cedar Hill Church of Christ continue to shine as a light on the hill — where God is honored, and people find peace and purpose in Jesus Christ.
