Cedar Hill Church of Christ

Missions

I. .Zambia Mission

“Send the Light” to the Kaonde Tribe in Northwestern Zambia, some 300,000 people are presently dominated by sorcerers and idolatry. King “Mumena”, a believer, has asked the Church of Christ to teach his people about the True God and Savior and has donated a missionary base to us in the middle of his tribal homeland. King Mumena wants the gospel to be taught to his people so that they can teach it to other tribes in the Congo and Angola.

This mission effort will also include preaching the Gospel in the Meheba U.N refugee camp located in Kaonde land. There is already a church established in this refugee camp. Many of the refugees are from French speaking Congo as well as other African nations.

This exciting new mission effort will be a major focus for several years. We will support two families as a part of the team that will take the Gospel to the Kaonde people. Don and Rita Boyd will be moving to Zambia in 2006. We will send another family to join the team in 2007. The Lord has opened a great “door of opportunity” for us to be involved in planting churches in this part of the world! This primitive work will require great sacrifices on the part of our missionaries and will require sacrificial giving of us.

II. French World Outreach

French is an official or prominent language of more than 50 countries with a population of 250 million and it is the first language of 115 million people world wide. This important ministry provides printed material in the French language to missionaries and churches, including Bibles, tracts, WBS lessons, and a variety of books. Last year more than 30 volunteers at Cedar Hill participated in the production and distribution of 134,000 tracts, 21,000 booklets, 540 NT’s & Bibles, 3,708 books, and 32,000 BCCs to workers in 18 countries directly or indirectly affecting more than 60 mission points. Directly, we ship materials to 28 countries & islands. Indirectly, through varous ministries, BCC centers and WBS that number could double. This year, Jerrel (with the assistance of 8 colleagues) completed a revision of the French New Testament (personal workers edition). It has been printed and over 2000 distributed. A second printing of 10,000 copies is in the works.

Jerrel Rowden has directed this ministry for over 35 years and it is the major source of Bible materials for the French speaking world.

III. .World Bible School

WBS is a world wide effort to reach the masses with the Gospel of Christ through correspondence courses. Cedar Hill sends over 8,400 courses out each year. We have been a part of this great work for over 15 years involving many of our members. Vinus Nelson coordinates this work and currently has 11 other members helping each week.

IV. Perm, Russia

The church was planted in Perm, Russia in 1992, over 13 years ago. There are now two churches in that city. These churches will be completely self-supporting by the end of 2006. The Lord has blessed us with a great fellowship with the Christians in that city and continues to bless them as they grow in His love. We will phase out our support of that work next year.

V. South Africa

Patrick Kenee oversees several mission works in the Johannesburg area including World Bible School follow up, Leadership Training, Church planting, and humanitarian services. We have supported Patrick’s work for over 7 years. We began to phase out of this work in 2005. We will continue to reduce our support for Patrick Kenee through 2007.
