Fred Yarbrough
Associate Minister

INTRODUCING FRED & NEVA YARBROUGH
About 1965 I began preaching on a part-time basis in Forney, Texas. Later I preached in Battle Axe, Texas – also on a part-time basis. The rest of my time was occupied with college and miscellaneous jobs, including being a houseparent at Boles Home. I graduated from East Texas State College (now Texas A & M in Commerce, Texas) in 1969, with a BS in Education and decided to move to the Seattle, Washington, area. There I taught junior high math and became certified to teach Driver’s Ed. I preached part-time in Enumclaw, Washington and served the church as a deacon. Along with teaching, I was also a student at Pacific Lutheran University where I obtained a Fifth Year in Education. After five years we were able to hire a full-time preacher, who had graduated from the Preston Road School of Preaching in Dallas. In 1975 I decided to return to Texas and attend the same school. My family and I were blessed to be supported during this time by the church in Cedar Hill. Upon my completion of this school in 1977, the elders of the church in Cedar Hill were interested in supporting us in a stateside mission point. We moved to Warren, Pennsylvania, where we remained for twenty years. The work there was a joint effort of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Kokomo, Indiana. We first phased out the support from Kokomo, becoming partially self-supporting, and then from Cedar Hill, becoming totally self-supporting. While in Warren, I completed a Master’s Degree in Counseling. In 1997 we returned to Texas, where my family (now including grandchildren) was once more blessed to worship with, and work for, the Lord’s church in Cedar Hill.

Matt Helm
Family / Youth Minister
|
INTRODUCING MATT AND MARGIE HELM
Matt Helm set his sights on serving God through youth ministry in eighth grade while living in Wichita, Kansas. After graduating from high school in 1989 he went to York College, in York, Nebraska to major in Biblical Studies and minor in Biblical languages. In his sophomore year, Matt met another York student, Margie McClung, a missionary kid who was raised in Costa Rica and Mexico. It was December 1992 that they wed to begin their wonderful marriage together.
After graduating from York in 1993, Matt and Margie spent two years living in Searcy, Arkansas where Margie could complete a nursing degree at Harding University. Matt spent those two years commuting to Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, Tennessee once a week and working as the Youth Minister of Palm Street Church of Christ in Lonoke, Arkansas.
In 1995, Matt and Margie moved to Wichita, Kansas where Matt could serve as the Youth Minister of the Westlink Church of Christ. While in Wichita, Matt continued his education completing a Masters degree in Family Development and Education in 1998 from Friends University. God blessed Matt and Margie with two children while living in Wichita, a son Benjamin and a daughter Rylie. After a wonderful experience with the Westlink congregation, Matt and Margie felt led to serve at the Cedar Hill Church of Christ in Cedar Hill, Texas, and they moved the family September 2002. The latest addition to Matt and Margie’s family was a daughter, Allie, who was born in 2004.
For hobbies Matt loves to hunt, fish, play soccer, and practice Tae Kwon Do which he and his kids enjoy together.
